Street view is an happening that takes place through the traffic, on the road that runs a long the fence of Terme di Caracalla in Rome (Italy). The artist waits at the traffic light as a car-window cleaner or a street vendor, until the signal allows him to penetrate between the cars to browse books about natural landscapes, marine creatures and animal species.Over the window, fleeting appearances flow, so that the driver finds himself as a spectator – intrigued, disturbed, indifferent, distracted- by an action “out of place” and not immediately understandable, which refers to an “extraurban” elsewhere. Street view sets a direct relation between the artwork and its beneficiary, opening a reflection on the ideas of origin, identity, travel, vision and extinction.

Street view è un happening realizzato in mezzo al traffico, sulla strada che costeggia il recinto delle Terme di Caracalla a Roma. L’artista resta in attesa al semaforo, come un lavavetri o un venditore, fino a quando il segnale gli consente di addentrarsi tra le auto per sfogliare libri su panorami naturali, entità marine e specie animali. Al di là del finestrino scorrono fugaci apparizioni e l’automobilista si ritrova così ad essere spettatore – incuriosito, disturbato, indifferente, distratto – da un’azione fuori luogo e non immediatamente codificabile che rimanda all’altrove extraurbano. Street view mette in relazione diretta opera e fruitore aprendo una riflessione sul concetto di origine, identità, viaggio, visione e estinzione.
